Message from the President of the European Commission following the attacks in Brussels

                            
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the people of Brussels, to the many wounded, to the families and loved ones of those cruelly hit by the explosions this morning at Zaventem airport and Maelbeek Metro Station. I would also like to express my full support for and solidarity with the Belgian authorities.

Heightened security at European Parliament

The European Parliament has raised its alert level in Brussels to orange and heightened security in close cooperation with the Belgian authorities, following the terror attacks in Brussels on Tuesday. Staff have been requested to stay inside where they are until further notice.

The Parliament remains open, but the visitors' entrance and the Parlamentarium have been closed.

Ο STOXX® Europe 600 Banks...κατά την χθεσινή συνεδρίαση απέτυχε να διασπάσει ανοδικά την αντίσταση στο επίπεδο της ΕΜΑ 9 ...  και ΕΜΑ 50.. στις 154,6μ... με αποτέλεσμα σήμερα μετά και από τα δυσμενή γεγονότα να διασπά και την στήριξη της ΕΜΑ 21... απειλώντας αυτή την ώρα και την στήριξη στις 150,4μ....

Statement by President Donald Tusk following the terrorist attacks in Brussels

I am appalled by the bombings this morning at Zaventem airport and the European district in Brussels which have cost several innocent lives and injured many others. 

I extend my sincerest sympathies to the relatives and friends of the victims. These attacks mark another low by the terrorists in the service of hatred and violence.

Έντονες διακυμάνσεις, σημειώνονται σήμερα για τον   STOXX® Europe 600... στην σκιά των τρομοκρατικών επιθέσεων στις Βρυξέλλες..Ο Ευρωπαϊκός δείκτης  ακολουθώντας το  momentum των Ευρωπαϊκών αγορών.. σημείωσε υψηλό στις 339,45μ...κινούμενος πάνω από την ΕΜΑ 9... και αυτή την ώρα, καταγράφει απώλειες στις 338,12μ.. κατά 0,79%.... έχοντας σημειώσει χαμηλό στις 335,42μ.... κάτω από τις στηρίξεις του..

Oil prices and euro area consumer energy prices

The major negative impact that energy prices are currently having on headline HICP inflation primarily reflects the effect of changes in the price of oil in euro (see Chart A). However, while fairly close, there is no strict one-to-one relationship between movements in the price of crude oil and overall consumer energy prices. In particular, the co-movement varies in terms of intensity and timing across the main energy components.1 

Against the backdrop of the recent sharp falls in oil prices, this box reviews some pertinent factors that can influence the co-movement in terms of the degree of automaticity, magnitude and timing between oil prices and euro area consumer energy prices.
