 From December 2014 to December 2015, employment increased in 308 of the 342 largest U.S. counties, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Williamson, Tenn., had the largest percentage increase with a gain of 6.8 percent over the year, above the national job growth rate of 1.9 percent. 

The World Bank is downgrading its 2016 global growth forecast to 2.4% from the 2.9% pace projected in January. The move is due to sluggish growth in advanced economies, stubbornly low commodity prices, weak global trade, and diminishing capital flows....

There are markedly different prospects for commodity exporters and importers. China is forecast to grow at 6.7% after 6.9% last year. India’s robust economic expansion is expected to hold steady at 7.6%, while Brazil and Russia are projected to remain in deeper recessions than forecast in January.

The developments seen over this period took place in an environment of heightened uncertainty around global economic prospects and changing market expectations as to the path of monetary policy across major economies. The main drivers of international use of the euro were the additional unconventional monetary policy measures implemented by the ECB, the slowerthan-expected pace of normalisation of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy, and concerns about developments in China and EMEs more generally.
