Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες εκτιμήσεις της ΕΛΣΤΑΤ, τα οποία παρήχθησαν βάση του νέου Κανονισμού ESA 2010 , το πλεόνασμα για το έτος 2016, εκτιμάται στα 1,3 δις. ευρώ, ενώ το ακαθάριστο ενοποιημένο χρέος της Γενικής Κυβέρνησης σε ονομαστικές τιμές στο τέλος του 2016 εκτιμάται στα 314,9 δις , με το ΑΕΠ σε αγοραίες τιμές να υπολογίζεται στα 175,888 δις. ευρώ, για το έτος 2016, ελαφρά αυξημένο από το έτος 2015, παραμένοντας όμως σε χαμηλότερα επίπεδα από το έτος 2013 και 2014.
